As acupuncturists we have certainly found acupuncture's popularity as a complementary therapy for pre and post-embryo transfer to have grown significantly in recent years. So much so that recruiting participants for research with acupuncture and IVF is difficult because so many people are already using acupuncture to support their IVF cycle.
Research studies have shown that acupuncture can improve the chances of implantation and reduce the risk of miscarriage, making it an attractive choice for those undergoing IVF.
If you’re embarking on the IVF journey in Melbourne, Melbourne Reproductive Acupuncture is conveniently located in the East Melbourne Medical precinct - just 1 min walk from Melbourne IVF.
Why choose Melbourne Reproductive Acupuncture?
Proximity to Melbourne IVF and other Fertility Clinics in East Melbourne: One of the biggest advantages of choosing Melbourne Reproductive Acupuncture is its convenient location. It's situated very close to Melbourne IVF, making it easy to schedule your acupuncture appointments before or after your embryo transfer procedure. This eliminates the need for additional travel time and stress.
Experienced Practitioners: The practitioners at Melbourne Reproductive Acupuncture are highly trained and experienced in providing acupuncture treatments specifically tailored for fertility and IVF. They have a deep understanding of the physiological processes involved in conception and can offer personalised support.
Holistic Approach: Acupuncture is a holistic approach to healthcare that focuses on balancing the body on the day of transfer. It can help to reduce stress, improve blood circulation, and regulate hormones, all of which are important factors and going into a transfer less stressed and tense makes for a better experience.
We Take Referrals: If you are travelling for your transfer from outer suburbs of Melbourne, rural Victoria or internationally we are happy to see you on the day of transfer as a once off. We have gotten fitting people in around their transfer time down to a fine art. If you have been seeing an acupuncturist elsewhere or your fertility specialist is suggesting trying acupuncture with your transfer please get in touch via phone or email. Phone number is (03) 9132 0287 and you can contact us via email at reproductiveacupuncture@gmail.com
Appointment timing for Pre and Post Embryo Transfer Appointments
Once you know you are having an embryo transfer we recommend getting touch by phone or email and we can guide you on best appointment timing. In most circumstance we suggest an acupuncture treatment within 24 hours before transfer and 24 hours after transfer. We are well aware that you don’t receive your transfer time until the day before transfer so we tentatively book appointments when you know transfer time and move them around to suit you once you have been given your time.
What to expect during a Pre and Post Embryo Transfer Appointment
Pre Embryo Transfer Appointment
Your pre embryo transfer acupuncture session is approximately 1 hour in total and will involve a conversation with your practitioner who will ask questions about your health history and other appropriate questions to be able to treat you accordingly.
Once the acupuncture needles have been inserted into specific points on the body you will be left to relax on the table for 25 to 30 minutes. During this time you are able to listen to music, meditation or silence and made to feel warm and comfortable. Acupuncture helps prepare your body for a transfer but also calms the nervous system so you feel more relaxed and prepared going in for your transfer procedure.
Post Embryo Transfer Appointment
Your post embryo transfer acupuncture will involve less questions and rather a quick conversation on how the transfer went and how you are. The treatment for post embryo transfer is different to the pre embryo transfer appointment and different acupuncture points are selected.
Once the acupuncture needles have been inserted you are left to relax on the treatment bed for 25-30 minutes. During this time you are able to listen to a different meditation, music or silence for the duration of the session.
If you arrive for your appointment early, you are most welcome to sit in out waiting room, sipping on warm tea. Its a calm and pleasant environment.
Appointment Pricing
As we truely believe pre/post embryo transfer acupuncture can help the outcome of an IVF cycle we are trying to keep costs down to make it as accessible as we can.
